Homage to Marc Chagall a Bellarussian-born artist who lived in Paris in 1911-1914 and again 1923-1941. This engraving translates Chagall's iconic, dreamlike imagery into a clean, modern graphic style of linocuts. Drawing from many of his works, the "fiddler on the roof" is seen here reading a book perched on a Parisian zinc roof. From the balcony below, Bella in her white wedding dress peers out at the night sky illimuniated by the Eiffel Tower and a glowing crescent moon. The two lovers are doubled in the floating couple in the distance, a floating disembodied head and a single blue bird nestled among the green leaves remind us of Chagall's whimsical bestiary. This print evokes the many different art movements that influenced him, such as: Impressionism, Fauvism, Symbolism and Russian Folk Art. Chagall participated in the Salon d'Automne in 1912.

To make my art prints, I transfer my original sketch onto a lino block which I cut out with special gouges. Each print is hand-pulled on a press, one at a time, so each linocut is a unique and original piece of art. Slight differences in each print are inherent in the process.

The print is sold unmounted and unframed but fits in a standard 30 cm x 40 cm frame.
