This linocut is set in the inside courtyard at the Palais Royal in Paris, which houses the French Ministry of Culture, as well as the Comédie Française, the oldest theatre company in the world, founded in 1680.
It is here that Daniel Buren created his art installation of 260 black and white columns in 1986. Although controversial at the time, it has become an established French landmark adopted by tourists and Parisians alike. On a summer's day, one is likely to see all sorts of people strolling through the courtyard, climbing on columns, or posing for the perfect pic!
To make my art prints, my original sketch is transfered onto a block of lino which I cut out with special gouges. I hand pull my art prints on a press, one at a time.
Each linocut is a unique and original piece of art. After pulling the print on my press, I hand paint in oils and watercolor. Slight differences in each print are inherent in the process.
The hand-painted and black & white editions are limited to 30 prints.
The print is sold unmounted and unframed. Ships from France in a heavy-duty cardboard art tube using a tracked postal service.
